VACANCY- ACTUARIAL ASSISTANT (C5 GRADE)

Applications are invited for the position of ACTUARIAL ASSISTANT-GRADE C5 at ZB Life Assurance Limited.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To carry out analysis and investigation of quantitative and qualitative data in order to mitigate against risk in existing and new business.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Minimum academic and professional qualifications required for this job include;

  • Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
  • At least 5 Actuarial Professional Examinations
  • Qualification in Statistics

 

JOB ENTAILS:

  1. Analysis of market variables to assist the business in making decisions
  2. Preparing and analysing ratings for new and existing business
  3. Carrying out statutory validation, including data checks, validations for assets and liabilities
  4. Applying Mathematics, statistics and probability knowledge to solve insurance problems
  5. Carrying out experience investigations such as expense analysis and mortality investigations
  6. Performing any other duties assigned by superiors

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have strong numerical and statistical ability;
  • Must have a very good knowledge of computer programs such as spreadsheets, SQL databases, and statistical analysis programs;
  • Must have good planning and problem solving skills;
  • Must pay excellent attention to detail;
  • Good communication skills both oral and written;

2. VACANCY –  CHIEF RISK OFFICER

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above-mentioned vacancy which has arisen in the Group Risk Department.

 

The successful incumbent will be, among other duties, responsible for the following:

  • Identifying, monitoring, controlling and reporting all forms of risks that may affect business performance and capital.
  • Formulating, implementing, and reviewing the Risk Department strategic business plan and budget.
  • Formulating, implementing and monitoring governance risk management policies and procedures that support business.
  • Implementing the Basel II risk management and ensuring training for the board members and staff.
  • Developing and maintaining enterprise wide risk management framework, systems and models for all business units within the Group.
  • Conducting stress tests on Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Market risk
  • Researching on modern risk management trends and implementing the results for the benefit of the business.
  • Ensuring that the computer security systems are secure.
  • Providing technical advice on risk management issues to all business units and committees within the Group.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A commercial degree,
  • Relevant professional qualifications like Institute of Bankers (IOBZ) diploma or equivalent
  • Masters in Business Administration or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in risk management in a similar business environment at  senior management level

 

 

Skills and Attributes Required

  • Highly developed organizational, analytical and process evaluation skills.
  • Knowledge of regulations and legislation governing the financial services sector (Banking and Insurance).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Leadership skills in managing risk based  audit teams
  • Attention to detail
  • Impeccable integrity
