FAQs
  1. What are the types of investments offered by ZB Asset Management?

ZB Asset Management offers three types of investments namely; Money Market, Unit trust and Balanced Portfolios.  Money Market investments are short-term risk free investments where rates per annum are quoted for a certain period of investment.

Unit Trust investments are a pool of funds that are invested at fund level. The equity based Unit Trusts, where the funds are invested in the equities market, includes the Specialists and the General Equity.  The investor in this case buys units in the Funds.

The Balanced Portfolios are equity based investments where the Management Company places the investors' funds directly into carefully selected shares.

2. What is the minimum investment amount and period for these investments?

The minimum investment periods are as follows:

  • 4 months for Unit Trusts,

  • 12 months for the Balanced Portfolios

  • for money market all profiles are possible, some of which are overnight, 7days, 14days, 35 days, 90days, 180days or a year.

This means investors cannot withdraw his/her funds before the lapse of the minimum investment period but they are free to top up their investments anytime.

The minimum investments amounts are reviewed every month but currently they stand at US$50 for the Unit Trust, US$2 000 for Balanced Portfolios and from US$5 000 for Money Market depending on the period of investment.

  1. How would I know the performance of my investment?

The investment reports for the Balanced Portfolios are distributed via e-mail on a monthly basis or can be collected from our offices. The deal notes can also be sent via email or posted to the respective investors.

  1. After the minimum investment period has lapsed how do I have access to my funds?

There would be need for either a written or an e-mail instruction requesting us to redeem the investment. An investor is free to redeem part or all of the investment. If an instruction is not given we take it that the investor wants to leave the fund running but in this case it is not affected by the minimum investment period.

5. How much do I get on maturity of the investment?

For money market, it depends on the rates that would have been quoted on the day when the investment was done. For the equity based unit trusts and Balanced Portfolio the amount would depend on the performance of the equities market especially on the redemption time. The amount for the money market unit trusts would depend on the rates that would be quoted in the money market.

  1. What are the requirements for opening an investment account with you?

The following would be required:

For individuals- copy of ID, Proof of resident

For companies- Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum and Articles of Association, Copy of ID for two Directors or appointed signatories and a Board Resolution to open the account.
